I am a former corporate drone who decided to switch gears at age 49 (I know, a lot later than many FIRE adherents) and occupy myself with things I wanted to do vs. had to do (to pay the bills).
I live in Los Angeles but pay almost nothing in this pricey market (thank you, house hacking!), and cover my exorbitant living expenses through income from rental properties.
I started this blog to share my experiences and learnings, and deliver a different POV to those who are seeking FI (Financial Independence), but for whom the traditional rules (extreme frugality, extreme savings) may not always work.
My inspirations (although they’d probably be shocked to hear this) are Mr. Money Mustache and the Bigger Pockets gang. They are the people who got me started on thinking about Financial Independence, and the many possible paths to this worthwhile goal.
I hope you enjoy my musings, and maybe even benefit from a slightly different perspective on personal finance.
If you would like to learn a little about the Contrarian Saver philosophy, feel free to check out my first blog post.
